Infertility Infertility is defined, in general, as failure to conceive after 1 year of regular, unprotected coitus in women of reproductive age (15-44). Infertility is classified into 2 categories:
There are many causes of infertility. The most common are abnormal ovulation, abnormalities of the Fallopian tubes, and abnormalities of the semen (male factor). Dr. Block can evaluate infertile couples and test for abnormalities which can help explain the reasons for the infertility. Some of these can be treated relatively simply. Other causes can be more complex and are best handled by a referral to a reproductive endocrinologist (infertility specialist).
